800 mi from Sturgis. 8 Miles High?
The San Juan Range:
Last reported sighting of the Colorado Grizzly was here. An outdoor person's paradise. 60' Blue Spruce trees rise straight as an arrow toward the sky. Twisty roads, granite cliffs, and scurrying critters everywhere. We're 40 mi from any kind of phone line or internet connection, so we communicate whenever possible.
Buffalo Chip Disturbed:
Last Friday of the Sturgis run, & we catch "Disturbed". Their core fans up toward the front were nearly out of control. These dudes have a dedicated following. At the end, they were in sync, yelling.. "Disturbed", "Disturbed", etc.. Pretty cool.
Scorpions Sting at the Chip:
Headline act, HUGE vid screen, tight synch to the tunes. Scorp's run a screen showing they pulled 385,000 back in the 80's.. They're pretty good, and with no offense to our German bro's, they are German, so it's sort of like listening to Col Klink in between songs when they smooze with the crowd. The Scorpions, freaked out on the size of the crowd, as did most of the bands who performed there during Sturgis week. We like both of Friday's lineup, especially Disturbed.
App's to Mr. Rod Woodruff:
Owner of the Buffalo Chip campground, Sturgis, SD. ABM was obviously under the influnce of the Blue Agave Monster when we screwed up and wrote you in as Ron. Our bad, no offense intended. (AC/DC next year, Rod?)
Next Time:
He Weed Whacked His Buffalo Chip CG Site? Yeah.. we swear.
